The Late P R Jayalakshamma birth centenary celebrations will be held at the Shaswathi Auditorium, NMKRV College, Jayanagar, on July 6, at 10 am.
A lecture by senior journalist Nagamani S Rao on ‘Women then and now’ has been organised. This will be followed by a veena recital by Tara Krishnamurthy.
Jayalakshamma was involved in several programmes connected with the freedom struggle and had served as the member of the Congress party. She was associated with the State Social Welfare Board, State Family Welfare Planning Organisation and also the State Beggar Welfare Committees.
